Join us at MCAC this for specialist art classes and 1-day workshops.

As numbers are limited for all workshops advance booking is essential. Many of the adult classes are suitable for Age: 16+. Unless otherwise stated all materials will be provided. Ceramic Techniques (10 weeks)

Wednesdays from 10 October, 7:00 → 9:00pm, £50

Learn and develop hand building techniques for individual sculptural design projects.

Painting for Pleasure (4 weeks)

Thursdays from 04 October, 2:00 → 4:00pm, £20

A relaxed class for all levels of ability, participants encouraged to develop their chosen medium. (Bring your own materials)

Digital SLR

Saturday 06 October, 10:00 → 4:00pm, £30

The aim of this workshop is to develop what you see and improve your ability to capture it. Move away from ‘auto’ mode becoming more confident in use of Aperature and Shutter Priority modes.

Beginners Printmaking (4 weeks)

Wednesdays from 24 October, 7:00 → 9:00pm, £20

Intaglio Printmaking comes from the Italian family meaning to make an incision below the surface. Exploring Callograph and Salt Etching, this course gives the student a chance to study in depth the intaglio form of printmaking.

Willow Stars (Parent and child)

Saturday 01 December, 10:00 → 12:00noon, £10

Work alongside willow artist Alison Fitzgerald to create some beautiful and elegant willow star designs.

Silversmithing (Daylong Workshop)

Saturday 17 November, 10:00 → 4:00pm, £40

You will be taught traditional jewellery making techniques such as piercing, soldering, rolling, annealing and polishing, enabling you to design a necklace/earring. Class is led by designer, gold and silversmith Diane Lyness.

Granny Crochet (Daylong Workshop)

Saturday 17 November, 10:00 → 4:00pm, £20

Using beautiful yarn, learn how to crochet the now hip, modern and gorgeous granny square and explore several different techniques, in a relaxed and friendly environment and go home with a stash of squares and inspiration. This class suits beginners and all materials will be provided.

Life Drawing (Daylong Workshop 01)

Saturday 03 November, 10:00 → 4:00pm, £25 per session (or £60 for 3)

An opportunity to draw from a life model under the guidance of an experienced tutor, perfect for portfolio building. Suitable for all levels.

Ceramic Platters

Saturday 24 November, 1:00 → 4:00pm, £15

Get ready for the festive season of entertaining. Make and decorate beautiful Christmas themed serving platters to be used at home using slab building techniques and decorating them with colourful slips, impressing and relief work.

Twinkle and Mistletoe (Festive event)

Wednesday 12 December, 12:00 → 2:00pm, £5

For all those ladies and gentlemen who like to lunch, join us for a festive lunchtime event. Sculpt some organic inspired ceramic tea lights to add a festive glow to the winter nights, whilst you listen to some christmas music…all washed down with a spot of lunch, mince pies and some warming mulled wine.

Throw - A - Pot

Saturday 19 January 10:00 → 12:30 pm, £10 (limited to 5 places) and Paint & Glaze

Saturday 26 January 10:00 → 12:00noon

Learn the method and technique for throwing a pot under the guidance of experienced ceramicist Ciara Campbell then come back and personalise your creations ready for second firing.

This masterclass will give an insight into the ideas, techniques and methods of his artistic practice with a hands-on workshop.

Man Made: Julie McGowan

Saturday 19 January, 7:00 → 8:00pm, £15

An introduction to the use of simple equipment and techniques to record and process your next adventure.
