FREE EVENT: Artist Talk with Stuart Cairns

Artist Talk: Stuart Cairns, Saturday 30 January, 2-3pm, FREE

MCAC is delighted to host an artist talk by Stuart Cairns in association with R-Space Gallery, Lisburn. Cairns is exhibiting a new body of work at R-Space Gallery from 9 January to 5 February 2016 entitled Place and Process: An installation by Stuart Cairns.

About the exhibition at R-Space Gallery, Lisburn: Applied artist Stuart Cairns has translated his experiences of walking, collecting and making over the past year into this installation of found objects and material drawings. Entitled Driftline, the arrangement explores a sense of place through the rhythms of found objects, mark making and made artifacts, and will be accompanied by supporting works of photography and drawing – parts of Cairns’ practice that are rarely displayed.

Combining his fascination with materials, the practice of collecting finds on walks through different Northern Ireland environments, and his love of making objects with an implied sense of function, Place and Process has been enabled by the inaugural Rosy James Memorial Trust Award, facilitated by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland (ACNI).
