Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh: Paintings, 17 May - 23 June
This body of work explores the subtle relationships of spaces, intersections, fissures and lacunas between forms and objects. Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh communicates the process of constructing an image with punctuated colour and geometry of reserved canvasses. While elements of Ní Mhaonaigh’s previous investigations in painting are recalled in this work, this untitled series also represents a development in the artist’s approach to the canvas. Dramatic use of colour contrasts against varying degrees of density within the new works, which explore the complexities of looking and examine the differences between how an image is made and what the image is.
